TB Screening

Tuberculosis Screening

Tuberculosis (TB) is a communicable disease spread from person to person by the respiratory route which can be cured if treated early with certain antibiotics. Many individuals who have TB show no symptoms for years, making the disease difficult to identify and treat. Therefore, to detect TB before it becomes too advanced, we perform a skin test. This requires a small shot and a return visit 48 hours after the test is applied, but only needs to be done for children who are at risk.

To help us determine if your child needs to be skin tested for tuberculosis, we will give you a questionnaire to fill out when you come in for your yearly physical. Please answer the questions honestly, and discuss any concerns or questions you have about the answers with your provider.
