Overview

Medical Care

An extensive collection of information for our patients and viewers

Research information and tips from our staff and outside sources concerning many of the typical medically-related issues that affect children!

Some viewers have asked about the difference between an acute issue and a chronic issue. In layman’s terms, an acute issue occurs relatively suddenly but does not persist for very long durations. Examples: a broken leg, bee sting, common cold, etc. A chronic issue is a long lasting issue and may also result from an acute incident. Examples: asthma, allergies, Down syndrome, etc.

Well Child Care

All children should be seen for periodic physicals (a.k.a. “well child visit”, “checkup”, “health maintenance visit”) on a schedule of ages. The purpose of these visits is twofold – screening & prevention.

Adolescent Care

We recognize adolescence as a time when children need and deserve to take gradually increasing responsibility for their own health care and to get increasing privacy in this regard.

Immunizations

Find general information relevant to ALL or MOST vaccines, detailed information about specific vaccines available through our office, as well as the schedule by which vaccines are supposed to be given.

Acute Illness Guide

Few things are more worrisome to parents than a child who falls ill. Children get sick more frequently but less severely than adults. This is the first section of our comprehensive guide.
